The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded Southern Airways Express (9X, Memphis Int’l) new Essential Air Service (EAS) con-tracts for several communities in the states of Pennsylvania, New York, and West Virginia.
On its Altoona, Pennsylvania route, Southern will provide 26 weekly nonstop round trips to Pittsburgh International. The contract runs from October 1, 2016, through to September 30, 2018.
Concerning Du Bois, Pennsylvania, Southern will provide 19 weekly nonstop round trips to each of Pittsburgh Int’l and Baltimore Thurgood Marshall. On its Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the airline will provide 24 weekly nonstop round trips to Pittsburgh Int’l and 14 weekly return trips to Washington Dulles. Concerning Morgantown, West Virginia, Southern will provide 19 weekly nonstop round trips to Pittsburgh Int’l and 19 weekly return trips to Washington Dulles. All contract run from October 1, 2016, through to October 31, 2018 and will be operated with the airline’s Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208B equipment.
Concerning Jamestown, NY, Southern will provide 26 weekly nonstop round trips to Pittsburgh Int’l at with its Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208B equipment. The contract runs from October 1, 2016, through to September 30, 2018.
Using a fleet of fourteen Cessna Caravan 208Bs and nine Piper (twin piston) PA-31 Chieftains, SAE serves eighteen cities in the Southern and Eastern United States, with hubs in Memphis Int’l, Pittsburgh, Washington Dulles and Baltimore. (Read more)
