Italy’s second largest carrier Meridiana will launch non-stop flights between Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and Miami International (MIA). Beginning June 08, 2018, this new service will be operated four times weekly, and Miami will join New York (JFK) as one of the airline’s two US destinations. The Miami and New York routes will be operated on 247-seat Airbus A330s. In addition, Meridiana’s Airbus A330 aircraft will also serve the twice-weekly Milan Malpensa – Havana route from September 04, 2018.
“We appreciate Meridiana for choosing MIA to be part of its expansion into new markets this year,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Department Chief of Staff Joseph Napoli. “We gladly welcome their additional service to the popular city of Milan, as well as their connections to new destinations around the world.”
Meridiana will increase Miami’s service options to Italy, which include nonstop flights to Milan by American Airlines and flights to Rome by Alitalia. The airport serves more than 288,000 passengers annually to and from Italy.
