According to new forecasts issued by the ratings agency Moody’s, the Middle East is projected to be the fastest growing region of the world for the airline industry in 2017. The projection is based on the highest amount of growth in both revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) and new airline capacity.
Compared to the forecasted RPK growth of 9% and 7% in the Middle East, the RPK in North America is projected to grow 2.5%.
The Middle East is expected to lead the newest seat capacity in 2017 at 10%. Comparatively, the capacity in Asia is predicted to grow by 7.5% and the capacity in the US and Europe will grow in low single digits.
