Lao Airlines

Lao Airlines was founded in 1976 as the national carrier of the then newly-formed Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR).

The airline has traditionally operated a mixed fleet of Western aircraft, including 70-seater ATRs. However, the arrival of its first Airbus A320 marked the beginning of a new phase of its network development.

Today, Lao Airlines services around 12 international destinations, and six domestic routes. International destinations include Cambodia, China, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. The airline has plans to grow its network significantly, especially in the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) region.

Lao Airlines’ frequent fliers are also rewarded with Miles for every flight, which may be redeemed for flight tickets, upgrades, or extra baggage.

First-time visitors to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, can expect a mix of French-colonial architecture and Buddhist temples, rich culture and plenty of art and museums. The city is also home to the That Luang Buddhist Temple, one of the most significant and recognisable national monuments in Laos. Vientiane is also the commercial and administrative capital of Laos.
