Malaysia Airlines is encouraging local travel by offering international passengers a Bonus Side Trip (BST) from Kuala Lumpur to one of seven domestic destinations at no extra fare.

Paying only taxes, customers can choose to add Langkawi, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Alor Setar, Kuala Terengganu, or Kota Bharu – BST destinations selected for their rich local culture, top nature experiences, and authentic Malaysian traditions. Unlike traditional stopover packages, BST is fully integrated into the ticket fare and booking journey.

The program supports the country’s Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign and Malaysia Airlines’ strategy to showcase Malaysian hospitality at every touchpoint of the passenger journey.

On Langkawi, a stunning tropical island, customers can explore the UNESCO-certified Kilim Geoforest Park, shop for authentic local crafts, enjoy water sports and sunset cruises, or ride the Langkawi SkyCab.

Penang offers a blend of old and new, with captivating architecture and one of Southeast Asia’s largest Buddhist complexes.

Johor Bahru, home to Legoland Malaysia, is perfect for family adventures, while Kuantan is known for its eco-adventures, tranquil beaches, and rainforests.

Kota Bharu, a cultural treasure trove, offers easy access to beautiful nearby islands while Kuala Terengganu boasts a vibrant rural arts scene, great markets, delicious local seafood, and white-sand beaches.

Alor Setar will compete for its share of BST customers with picturesque golden paddy fields surrounding the city, historical forts, lively markets, and impressive landmarks such as the Zahir Mosque.
