LAM streamlines network

LAM Mozambique offers convenient connectivity options for US travelers via major gateways like Johannesburg, South Africa, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. While services connecting Maputo to Lisbon, Harare, Cape Town, and Lusaka are currently suspended, these other strategic hubs ensure hassle-free travel into Mozambique and beyond.

The changes are part of a broader restructuring plan that has received board approval.

In a statement announcing the suspension of its Cape Town flights, LAM expressed its intention to focus on enhancing the profitability and efficiency of its operations while concentrating on domestic routes and the Maputo – Johannesburg corridor.

Passengers with tickets for the suspended flights were being notified of alternative travel options and would be refunded if they could no longer travel.

The airline also said it remained committed to continuous service improvements and hopes to resume international destinations under more favorable and sustainable conditions in the near future.

In February, reports indicated that the Mozambican government had authorized the sale of a 91% stake in the airline to state-owned companies, with funding expected to be used for acquiring new aircraft.

This move would support LAM’s long-term goals for network expansion, including desirable routes connecting Maputo to major cities across the globe, such as Mumbai, São Paulo, Paris, Nairobi, and at least one location in China.
