IndiGo to host 81st IATA AGM in Delhi

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has officially announced that IndiGo will host the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit in Delhi, India, in June 2025. This marks a significant milestone, as it has been over four decades since the AGM was last held in Delhi. The event is set to showcase India’s thriving aviation sector, which is rapidly advancing toward becoming the world’s third-largest aviation market within this decade. With robust aircraft orders, impressive growth, and world-class infrastructure developments, India’s position as a key global aviation hub is firmly established.
Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General, expressed anticipation for the event, highlighting India’s bright prospects and the importance of this gathering. He emphasized that the timing is ideal for the AGM to return to India, offering attendees a firsthand view of the country’s remarkable aviation advancements.
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, expressed the airline’s pride in being selected as the host for this prestigious event. He noted India’s emergence as a global economic powerhouse, expected to become the third-largest economy in the coming years, and its leadership in the fourth industrial revolution, particularly through the use of AI. Elbers also underscored IndiGo’s commitment to advancing global aviation, fostering discussions on critical topics such as safety, diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability, all while meeting the growing global demand for air travel.
The decision to hold the 81st IATA AGM in India was made at the 80th AGM in Dubai. This will be the third occasion the AGM convenes in Delhi, with previous events hosted in 1958 and 1983, further solidifying India’s significance in the global aviation landscape.
