Zanzibar

Zanzibar, famously known as the Spice Island, is just a short 36-km hop from mainland Tanzania.

For South African holidaymakers, especially families, it’s a trendy Indian Ocean Island beach getaway with warm water and excellent resorts. For interesting combination itineraries, Precision Air makes it easy to combine a beach break with a safari on the mainland.

Zanzibar, an archipelago, features two main islands, Unguja and Pemba. The area is surrounded by brilliantly clear blue water teeming with life, offering brilliant scuba diving, snorkeling, incredible sunset cruises on traditional dhows, fishing charters, and watersports.

The blend of African, Arab, Indian, and European influences in Zanzibar adds many unique cultural experience to the mix.

Zanzibar also has a rich and fascinating history. Agents can confidently recommend a half- or full-day guided tour of Stone Town, the old town, and there are many opportunities and tours aimed at the diaspora market exploring Zanzibar’s slave history.

The remainder of your clients’ itinerary can be reserved for soaking up the resorts’ warm Swahili hospitality, cultural charm, delicious seafood dishes, live entertainment, and cocktails.

Zanzibar offers excellent value for the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference, and Events) market. There are many excellent hotels with exciting menus and beautiful venues, a variety of incredible entertainment, including dance performances by traditional Masai warriors and memorable boma dinners served on the beach, under the stars.

Precision Air offers daily scheduled flights and affordable charters to Zanzibar throughout the week.

SERONERA

Precision Air’s latest destination, Seronera, is set to soar as safari-goers set off to the Serengeti National Park and the predator capital of the world!

Flights are scheduled to operate from mid-June to mid-October. Charters are available daily.

Promoting the new route, Precision Air’s trip planners described Seronera as a must-visit destination with stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity. “Located in the heart of Tanzania’s renowned Serengeti National Park, [Seronera] is a wildlife-rich region offering unparalleled safari experiences,” the travel guide said.

Aside from Seronera’s many large predators and big cats, there is a good mix of accommodation types (campsites and lodges), a visitor center, a small museum, a coffee shop, and a staff village. The park also promotes unforgettable balloon safaris and describes Seronera as ‘Safari Central’.

The peak period for animal viewing in Seronera typically occurs during the Great Migration, which happens from June to October. Additionally, the dry season from July to September is ideal for spotting predators, as animals gather around water sources, making them easier to observe.

To avoid high traffic areas over peak dates, the Serengeti National Park suggests that visitors look at booking or mixing in accommodation in more remote parts of the park.

MTWARA

Mtwara is the capital of the Mtwara Region in south-east Tanzania. Even though it is eclipsed by other coastal areas and isn’t considered a very big tourist destination, Precision Air’s trip planners describe Mtwara as an awesome spot for relaxation with good, sandy beaches.

Customers can enjoy dhow or canoe excursions across the bay’s entrance to the Msangamkuu peninsula. There are also many good diving sites.

While there are some safety concerns in the southern part, within about 20km of the border with Mozambique, Mtwara is becoming more widely-known due to the construction of the Mtwara-Dar es Salaam Natural Gas Pipeline, transporting gas from an area called Mnazi Bay.

The airport in Mtwara is about eight kilometres by road to the south of Mtwara, and about 400 kilometres (by air) south of Julius Nyerere International Airport.

Mtwara city also has a rich cultural heritage, influenced by its historical ties to the Arab and Swahili traders, which visitors can explore through local markets and traditional music. There’s also Mikindani village, which has distinct colonial architecture and a serene atmosphere. Mtwara’s warm tropical climate makes it a good destination for outdoor activities most of the year.
